U.S. Vets is a fabulous program that provides housing, counseling, job assistance, and HOPE to thousands of homeless veterans each year. They have 257 beds for homeless veterans!!! Their programs foster the skills necessary for every veteran to return to the community and remain self-sufficient. The facility is not only efficient, but it's also very well maintained. One of things I noticed was that inside of the dormitory building there are these really cool murals on the walls that people have painted. I love how the murals add a little bit of color to the sometimes monotonous walls. My favorites are below.

After the tour, Dina Titus took the opportunity to speak to us AmeriCorps members and some of the vets. She spoke about the importance of community, of getting involved, and the fantastic job that U.S. Vets is doing within our community.
It was a short adventure, but getting out of the office and hearing from Dina Titus was pretty cool. I even got to meet her and take a picture with her. And on top of that, Big T and I got some Raising Canes on the way back so it was well worth it!

If you, or anyone you know, could benefit from U.S. Vets you can contact them at: 702.366.0456 and they are located at 525 East Bonanza Road Las Vegas, NV 89101
