AmeriCorps Week 2011

AmeriCorps Week was created in 2006 to give national service members an opportunity to share their experience with the community, motivate others to serve and thank the community partners who make AmeriCorps possible.

AmeriCorps is a national service initiative consisting of three main programs: AmeriCorps State and National, AmeriCorps VISTA and AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps). Generally, AmeriCorps State and National members are placed in a national or local nonprofit and community to provide direct service for clients. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve fulltime for a year in a nonprofit with the purpose of providing indirect service to aid in the eradication of poverty. AmeriCorps NCCC is a team-based residential program for young adults 18-24.

Now that you know more, experience more! Make sure to check out the VCSN social networking sites during AmeriCorps Week for blogs, pictures and videos to get in depth look into national service from a member currently serving.

So you've heard of national service, but you're still not sure what it is? No problem. May 14-21, the fifth annual AmeriCorps Week will be reserved and you can learn all about national service from a first-hand account. National Service members, who are currently serving the southern Nevada community, will take to the VCSN's social networking sites and share blogs, pictures and videos of their service.
