This post is going to have quite a few pictures in it! On Friday August 7 some of the Volunteer Center and United Way staff went to Three Square Food Bank to spend our time volunteering with Target. Three Square offers assistance to community members in need of food, toiletries and other necessities. As of July 29, 2009 the food bank had already distributed 10 million pounds of food. That equals about 8 1/2 million meals given out to those in need. They do an amazing job at Three Square and we were all happy to work with them. We spent our morning stocking shelves with non-perishables, freezers with goods, and sorting through health, beauty, and first aid donations. The volunteers from Target, as always, were very friendly and enjoyable to be around. I also got to meet the author of that poem I posted, Caroline! You can see below Three Square’s massive warehouse and all of us volunteers working hard!
And another great thing was the snacks that Target provided. Up until last Friday I hadn’t had a gusher in probably ten years!
